NHR Presents & Exhibits at APEC 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana

Martin Weiss, Product Director at NHR, will present in an industry session entitled, “Using Battery & Fuel Cell Emulation for testing EV batteries, DC fast chargers & Powertrains”. In this session, he’ll discuss new technology trends in battery and fuel cell emulation, and key factors in selecting the right test solution. This session will  cover how technologies are used today in R&D and production for DC Fast Chargers, Powertrain, and other EV applications.

EV DC Fast Charging deployments are accelerating. The ability to simulate these loading profiles is critical for: validating sophisticated load management systems and assessing the impact on the grid. Regenerative bi-directional sources, grid simulators and battery emulators are the engineer’s tool for testing new power management systems, solar (PV), energy storage systems, EVs and DC fast chargers. These bi-directional capabilities are especially ideal for utility companies to test and understand the impacts of e-mobility and grid-tied devices (DG and V2G) on the grid. NEW! Regenerative Grid Simulator – Model 9410, from NH Research, Inc.

regenerative grid simulator model 9410NH Research, Inc. (NHR) has released its new Model 9410 Regenerative Grid Simulator. This test instrument packs a full featured, 4-quadrant, regenerative, rack-mountable, 12-kW grid simulator in only 15 ¾” (9U). Standard models include three (3) fully programmable channels allowing for any combination of DC as well as 1?, 2?, 3? AC outputs. The modular design of this grid simulator permits power to be expanded in 12-kW increments, allowing improved sizing for testing micro-grids, grid-tied solar inverters, on-line critical power systems (UPS), grid-aware chargers, and similar AC grid-connected devices. The 9410 simplifies IEEE 1547, UL 1741, CA Rule-21, and LVRT compliance testing by providing the highest level of integration and programming versatility in the smallest package.

The new Model 9410 Regenerative Grid Simulator adds programmable AC to our regenerative bi-directional product line which includes the popular 9200 Series for DC testing and battery emulation. With the addition of this grid simulator, NHR is now able to offer combinations of AC and DC products specifically designed to simple testing of distributed energy resource (DER) and distributed generation (DG) products by simulating the AC area EPS as well as the DC battery or DC-Link capacitor.
