Aerospace & Electric Aircraft
NH Research (NHR) provides power test equipment for electric aircraft components and systems including battery modules/packs, electric propulsion and power electronic systems. Our customers include commercial, military aircraft and private manufacturers and suppliers across hybrid and fully electric aircraft, e-VTOL, drones, and urban air mobility (UAM) platforms.
A major limitation for electric-powered planes is the weight and capacity of the battery. Electric planes require lighter weight batteries with higher energy density to make electric flight feasible. Higher voltages increase power transfer and reduce vehicle weight. These factors are driving development for higher performing and higher power electric aircraft systems including batteries, electric motors, power distribution units (PDUs), power converters/inverters and chargers.
Electric Vehicles (EV)
NH Research (NHR) provides Electric Vehicle (EV) test equipment and software for individual components and systems including EV battery modules/packs, electric powertrain, DC fast chargers and EV power electronics.
With the accelerated growth of electric vehicles, engineers must address new testing challenges. Voltage and power levels are transitioning from a traditional 300/400VDC to 800/1000VDC. Higher voltages permit faster EV charging and increase power transfer while reducing vehicle weight. These factors are driving the development of higher performing EV batteries, electric drive-trains, power converters, inverters and faster chargers. Renewable Energy & Microgrid
NH Research (NHR) provides power test solutions across the microgrid for testing new power management systems, solar (PV), energy storage systems (ESS), distribued generation (DG), electric vehicles, DC fast chargers, and the utility grid. NHR’s test solutions include grid-simulators, battery test systems, battery emulators, AC/DC load and sources.
Bi-directional power test solutions are especially ideal for to test the impacts of e-mobility and grid-tied devices (e.g. DG and V2G) on the grid. Simulating the bidirectional power flows to and from the grid substantially speeds up test times and reduces energy costs. NHR’s 9410 AC Regenerative Grid Simulator can verify the AC product performance while NHR’s battery emulators can emulate an energy storage system. The combination of these two products provides an ideal solution for IEEE 1547, UL 1741, and grid-tied standards around the globe. NHR’s AC loads are ideal for simulating any inductive, capacitive, resistive load for testing. NHR’s DC Loads are ideal fast transient and accessory load inrush simulation.
