DC Electronic Loads with Accuracy, Reliability & Speed

Modular, Benchtop DC Electronic Loads 120V, 600V

4700 DC Electronic Load (front)If you’re looking for a DC electronic load with high current and low voltages, or low current and high voltages, NH Research (NHR) has a range of options. NHR’s DC Electronic Loads are ideal for testing medium-to-high-power applications in all markets.

All of NHR’s DC electronic loads provide ultra-fast transient simulations and comprehensive measurements to accurately test real-world conditions. The 4700 DC Load (120V) is well-suited for low voltage and high current applications whereas the 4670 DC Load (600V) is ideal for high power applications. The 4300 Series DC Loads are ideal for lower power, multi-channel testing and 9300/9200 NHR’s Regenerative DC Loads offer increased energy savings and additional bi-directional capability.

4700/4760 Benchtop DC Loads

In this article, we’ll share details specifically on the benefits of the 4700/4760 benchtop DC loads. This series can be used as part of an automatic test station or as a stand-alone, bench-top set-up. Our modular, flexible test equipment has the accuracy, reliability, and speed required for applications such as DC converters, avionics, fuel cells and batteries, EV components, radar testing, power supplies and much more.

With a large user-friendly interface, test engineers can easily use this equipment for engineering characterization and test program development. It can be operated manually through the touch-panel, or automated. Automated testing may be PC-controlled either through NH Research’s emPower™ test executive or user-written test programs in LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI or in any programming language which supports IVI Drivers.

Create Complex, Fast-Transient Load Profiles

NHR’s DC Electronic Loads (4700/4760) are capable of creating a wide variety of complex dynamic load profiles. Types of profiles include micro-second pulses, multiple pulses of varying width, stepped responses, variable slew rates and even simulating an AC component on the DC waveform.

The key to this capability is called a Macro, each of which contains up to 100 steps and is executed directly by the load to achieve the fastest possible transition speed. Once created, Macros can be stored in the system controller for downloading to the load when execution is required.

Scalable Power, Wide Operating Envelope

Easily add power modules scale power and meet new testing demands over time. For added flexibility, NHR’s dc electronic loads also have a wide operating envelope to provide rated power anywhere between 5V and 120V. Below 5V the load maintains full current capability down to 1V and then linearly reduced current down to 0.15V.

NEW! Modular 120V DC Load – 4312 Series, from NH Research, Inc.

A Digitizing DC Load with Built-In Measurements that Eliminates the Need for Seperate External Devices

removable modular dc load model 4350NH Research, Inc. (NHR) has launched its new 4312 Series 120V Modular DC Load that expands the 4300 family of modular power supply testing instruments. The new multi-range DC load provides the precision loading as well as output measurements for characterizing USB (5V), LPS (20V), and virtually any external AC-DC power supply. The modular, front-loading 4300 chassis supports any combination of 4312 Series DC loads as well as the existing 4350 Series 500V DC loads and 4301 AC/DC Power Analyzers in a single 16-slot 8 ¾” (5U) chassis. All of the 4300 instruments use the same driver installation resulting in the most compact, fully integrated test and measurement system available today.

NHR’s 4300 chassis supports the 4312 Series of 120V DC Loads, the 4350 Series of 500V DC Loads, and the 4301 AC/DC Power Analyzer. Each instrument embeds a 1 mega-sample/second digitizer, multiple measurement ranges, and additional support features commonly found in comprehensive power supply test systems. In fact, NHR offers a comprehensive test system based on the 4300 family of instruments called the S600 Series. NHR’s S600 test system consists of a 4300 chassis, any combination of DC loads & power analyzers, a programmable AC/DC power supply, and a controller pre-loaded with NHR’s emPower® test sequencing software.

As a standalone instrument or as the core of a complete test system, the 4300 instruments provide the loading flexibility & the measurement options needed to optimize and accelerate power supply testing.

NH Research Introduces a NEW Multi-Channel Power Device Test System

dc power supply multi channel test system s650 series

Introducing the NEW S600 Series Test System for High Speed Parallel Testing

The new S600 Series Test System (https://nhresearch.com/power-electronics-test-systems-and-instruments/dc-power-supply-test-systems/multi-channel-testers-s600-series/) is designed for hyper-fast testing of high-volume power conversion devices such as adapters, chargers, DC converters, voltage regulator modules, AC-DC power supplies and LED power drivers. Test throughput in the range of 3000 units per hour are achieved by configuring the S600 with up to 16 independent test channels each of which provides both stimulus and precision measurement of device performance.

All device input and output measurements are made by high speed digitization of analog waveforms. Once digitized any number of static and dynamic measurements can be made with high precision including power with milliwatt accuracy. Through such technology, normally additional test instruments such as DSOs, Power Meters, and DMMs are unnecessary thereby eliminating extra cost and slower test speeds.

The basic 16-channel mainframe provides many configuration options including 150 W, 300W and 600W loads. While all loads have built-in digital measurements, a new Digital Power Analyzer in a single card form is available for all device input measurements.

Bulk AC and DC power sources are also available from NH Research to complete the necessary input stimulus for the test system.
